2015 is not so much about the traditional, rustic style bathrooms, where you might imagine seeing marble being used, and more about clean and contemporary bathrooms. In order to achieve this style in your own bathroom, use plain white, high shine tiles, or try mixing these in with grey tiles. Both quartz and porcelain are an excellent option in order to achieve this look. The feature that will bring this style into 2015, and make it look contemporary, as opposed to plain and boring is the size of the tiles used. Instead of using the standard sized tiles you normally see in bathrooms, get larger square tiles, and fit them closer together, so you have minimal grout lines. This will create a sharper, cleaner feel, making your bathroom feel both luxurious and welcoming – just what you want from a room that ultimately is designed to relax you.

If contemporary is not your preferred style, fear not. Bold floor and wall tiles are still very popular, and are an excellent way to inject a bit of colour into your bathroom. Whilst darker coloured tiles can look very striking and do work in the right area, it is best to avoid these colours if you are working with a small space. So, unless you are lucky enough to have an incredibly large bathroom, stick to brighter, lighter colours. To bring this theme into 2015, avoid making your bathroom too matchy matchy. Think stylish, instead of an out dated matching 70’s pink bathroom set. Keep your bath, toilet and sink a classic white, and choose either the floor or a feature wall to fit the coloured tiles, and keep the rest of the room fairly plain. This again will not only make your bathroom feel bigger, but it will give you a focal point in the room. It will look striking, as opposed to overpowering.

Let move on to the kitchen. Most tiling materials will work well in the kitchen, and is a hygienic, easy way of keeping your kitchen germ free. Obviously some tiles will require more specialists care than others, particularly marble; however, on the whole, tiles are incredibly low maintenance, just another reason why they are so popular. If you are a fan of marble tiles and you want to incorporate them into your kitchen, be aware that it is quite a soft material and can become damaged or even broken if heavy appliances are dropped onto it. It can also stain easily, so ensure that care is taken if this material is chosen as a counter top in your kitchen.

Kitchen styles are very similar to those mentioned for the bathroom, in as much as smooth, contemporary styles are big all over the home in 2015. Once again, white is very popular, and this goes for kitchens as well. Many people believe white to be very unforgiving in the kitchen, but this does not apply so much when you are using tiles. White quartz tiles, particularly ones with mirrored particles in can actually have the opposite effect, and due to their constant high shine finish, which will not dull with age; however, if this is something that bothers you from trying a white kitchen, just like your bathroom, why not mix some grey tiles into the mix. Grey is set to be huge for the rest of 2015, and is a perfect for the style conscious. It is incredibly versatile and will not only work with a lot of colours, but also a lot of themes. It is the modern answer to beige and khaki.

Don’t forget about colour completely though. The kitchen is an excellent place to inject splashes of colour, as you will more than likely have areas underneath the cupboards and the backsplash that will make perfect areas. If you like the monochrome look but have quite a small kitchen, combine this with adding some colour. This leaves the majority of your kitchen white, which will increase the appearance of the size, but will also mean that you can still combine another style. If you want something a little brighter, there is nothing that is not acceptable. Coloured backsplashes are here to stay, and the brighter, the better. Because it is only a small area, this is really your chance to be as bold as you dare. Patterned, textured and mosaic tiles, are all predicted to remain on trend throughout the rest of 2015, and will really create an inviting, modern kitchen that you will want to entertain in.

Don’t neglect the rest of your house though. Like we have previously said, tiles are no longer only found in the kitchen and the bathroom, and are proving to be popular throughout your entire home. If your home is open plan, it is advisable to use the same flooring throughout the entire area for a smooth, continuous flow. Wooden floors look great in this instance, and are continuing to be popular all throughout 2015, and this is predicted to continue into 2016. That said, natural wood flooring can be very difficult and costly to treat and maintain, not to mention expensive to replace should anything happen to it. This is why porcelain wood effect tiles are absolutely perfect. They are so easy to maintain, and are incredibly durable and cost effective should you have to replace any, not to mention the fact that they look absolutely brilliant in any home.

Tiles are being upgraded and this should be reflected in your home. They are huge in 2015, and are predicted to remain this way all through next year. At the end of the day, tiles are incredibly practical and stylish, which is why more and more people are turning to them over traditional carpets.
